Carolina Crown edged out The Cavaliers by a scant 4 tenths of a point at the DCI Central Illinois show held at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University.
Showing just how much impact Michael Cesario's designs and FJM's quality construction methods and superior customer service have had on DCI, this event featured 7 of the 8 corps proudly wearing FJM uniforms!
For the first time ever, Carolina Crown (1st - 77.50) defeated The Cavaliers (2nd - 77.10) in a hotly contested battle for the top spot. Phantom Regiment (3rd - 76.30) in their new FJM uniforms was also not far from the top. A look at the recap shows that while Cavies received top honors from 3 of the 5 judges (GE Visual, Visual Ensemble & Music Ensemble), Crown had enough 2nd place scores and one important 1st place (GE Music) which gave the night to them. Phantom had two 2nd place scores (GE Music & Music Ensemble) while taking high percussion.
All three of these top corps have fantastic shows this year, and are off to a great start. It will be very interesting to see what the future will hold for them down the road as changes are made and the cleaning/detailing process kicks into full gear.
Finishing just 3 tenths out of 4th place, the Boston Crusaders (5th - 70.10) have alot of people talking this year for a few reasons. One reason is their new FJM uniforms. Everyone is stunned at how gorgeous they look, and how much the white accents really "pop" off the field. It is a new look for them, that still maintains the tradition that this storied corps (founded in 1940) is known for. Another reason Boston has people excited is their incredible production based on temptation. Many are saying this is the best vehicle the corps has had in years. Boston received two 4th place nods (Music Ensemble & Percussion) and placed 5th in all other captions. .jpg)
The Glassmen (6th - 67.50) had an excellent performance in which they placed 5th in Percussion and 6th in all other captions. The Colts (7th - 65.60) picked up a 5th place in Music Ensemble while Spirit (8th - 64.50) placed 7th in Percussion.
Update from the West....
FJM would like to congratulate client corps the Blue Devils for being the first corps to break a score of 80 this year! BD is off to a fantastic start, and remains undefeated so far this season.
