As all of FJM's drum & bugle corps gear up for the DCI summer tour, FJM would like to wish our corps the best of luck in 2009!
This is a big year for FJM's corps. We have many groups who will be debuting completely new looks...starting with last year's DCI Champion!
Phantom Regiment has come home to FJM for a completely updated look designed by DCI Hall of Fame member Michael Cesario. Michael worked very closely with Executive Director Rick Valenzuela and the entire Phantom staff over many months to come up with the perfect image for this perennial DCI contender.
"The great challenge was to re-visit the Regiment's signature look, something we created in the late 80's, and make it work for young, vital directors, staff and fans." Cesario said. "Our key was to aim past today, to guarantee that a classic would forever be a classic." The initial positive response to the unveiling of the Phantom corps uniforms has been overwhelming.
Phantom will also once again be outfitting their guard in the best performance wear in the industry direct from FJM Inc. FJM designer Greg Lagola has tirelessly overseen every aspect of the varied looks that Phantom will be presenting on the field. Fans are sure to appreciate the attention to every detail. You will also see examples of Greg's depth and sophistication this summer with his guard designs for corps Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders & Teal Sound as well.
20 year FJM client and 12 time DCI Champion Blue Devils are themselves no stranger to creating a cutting edge, and this summer will expand upon the avant guard approach that has served them so well in the past. FJM designer Scott Chandler will once again be exhibiting his risk-taking, irreverent imagination with this year's rendition of BD's color guard uniforms. Bold, bright and daring are just a few adjectives that leap to mind!
In 1984, Michael Cesario first designed the instantly recognizable look for The Cavaliers. Since then, Michael and FJM have made many updates to that telltale image to keep "The Green Machine" moving forward. Michael has also been designing The Cavies guard uniforms for years now. He will once again bring his talents to bare in creating another striking vision for the men from Rosemont, IL. Michael will also be designing performance wear for the guards of Colts, Jersey Surf and Empire Statemen.
FJM Client Corps Carolina Crown will once again be thrilling audiences around the country with their exiting brand of entertainment. This year, they will again take advantage of the cleverly designed Cesario uniforms to make additions to enhance the overall show concept. Look for incredible textures to enhance the shades of green that will be used for Crown in 2009. The Glassmen will also be making a new corps uniform debut this season. Michael Cesario worked with the G-Men on this ultra modern take on their classic design that everyone knows. The final product is striking! Featuring a "triangles within triangles" motif, this new image will be a clear departure for this classy corps, but their fans will still be able to shout, "The Glassmen are coming!" when they round the bend. The Glassmen guard will also be attired in performance wear from FJM Inc.
FJM is very proud and excited to be working with so many talented corps once again this year. Everyone here at FJM would like to wish all of the groups mentioned above (along with all the other loyal FJM corps) a safe and successful DCI season.
